After previous suspensions and schedule conflicts, the PUP Social Studies Guild (PUP-SSG) is finally ‘blooming’ as it celebrates its 11th anniversary with the theme, “SIDHA: Pagpapanday ng Isipan, Pagpapatuloy ng Kahusayan.”

‎In addition to the founding anniversary celebration, the organization has also prepared a recognition event for Social Studies majors, a turnover ceremony for the incoming SSG officers, and a showcase of students’ talents and creativity.

The program officially started with Dr. Manolito S. San Jose, the PUP-SSG adviser, delivering an opening remarks to welcome and express gratitude to all the attendees.

‎Following this, the Chairperson of the Department of Secondary and Elementary Education (DESED), Dr. Daizylyn C. Palillo, also made her presence felt as she delivered an inspirational message to the awardees and gave recognition to National History Month, another PUP-SSG initiative.

Joseph Ramiscal, LPT, PUP SSG Alumnus, served as the keynote speaker, encouraging social studies majors through his past experiences, tackling the shortage of social studies education professionals, Humanities’ importance to students, and erasing the image of social education as just about “memorizing history”.

Afterwards, PUP-SSG recognized the awardees for the Academic Year 2024 to 2025 from 1st to 4th Year, followed by an audio-visual presentation of the organization’s achievements throughout their term.

Concluding the event, the outgoing President Angelo Albao shared words of appreciation to the organization and its members for their support of the activities and trust in him, marking the end of the outgoing PUP-SSG Officials’ term and turnover to the newly elected officers, with Alvin Barios as the new president of the organization.

The incumbent president also invites students to join the organization in celebrating the National History Month.
