The College of Education (COED) of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) organized a 2-day virtual leadership workshop entitled “Lead-ucators United: Igniting Change Through Collaboration of Leadership” on November 27-28, 2025. The program was held via Zoom and simulcast on Facebook Live.

The workshop brought together student leaders from various organizations and programs to strengthen their leadership skills through discussions on effective communication, documentation, technology use, and program design.

COED Dean Dr. Rosemariebeth R. Dizon delivered the opening remarks, followed by Mr. Earl Gene B. Reymundo, president of MATH:RIIX, who explained the rationale.

The first speaker, Mr. John Leonard Evangelista, a Summa Cum Laude graduate in Performing Arts and the 2024 Top Outstanding Student Leader of the Philippines, opened his session with a performance. Mr. Evangelista advocates for using leaders’ voices sensibly and intentionally, emphasizing that leaders should hold great autonomy of voice and use it to build leadership that can be effective and powerful for directing and building people. Moreover, he imparted that being a student comes first before leading, establishing yourself first before spearheading others.

Ms. Allyanna B. Grefaldeo, a Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLIS) graduate and Natatanging Mag-aaral awardee, delivered content that discussed the importance of accomplishing documents accurately, where audiences are guided to review with utmost reliability and precision in document preparation.

Mr. Raphael Joseph C. Ramos, a PUP instructor, presented the third topic on mastering event technology and support, highlighting the role of technical proficiency in successful student-led activities.

The last speaker, Ms. Beatriz Reigne Tarlac, a former PUP student, who graduated Magna Cum Laude and was the internal Vice President of the PUP Social Studies Guild, discussed Designing Impactful Leadership programs where student leaders learned how to be influential and effective leaders who lead through results-oriented initiatives.

Day 1 of the online event concluded with student leaders gaining valuable insights into different aspects of effective leadership. As the continuation of the leadership training, Day 2 commenced with the same timeslot at 1:00 PM

Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics (BSEDMT) Magna Cum Laude alumna and former Math:RIIX President, Ms. Kyla Mae Escabas, opened the program by highlighting the importance of collaboration and being receptive to constructive criticism. She shared that leadership is shaped by teamwork, openness, and learning from challenges within an organization.

From Science Instructors of Education, Nature, Technology and Innovation Alliance (SCIENTIA), Althea Laurayne De la Rosa (BSED SC 2-1) presented her insights on Organization and Professionalism, emphasizing the Four Essential Checks—Accuracy, Completeness, Compliance, and Professionalism. She noted that documents serve as an organization’s backbone, reflecting its identity and integrity.

Representing Damdamin at Malay (DAMLAY), Ericka Jhoiz M. Borbon (BSEDFL 3-1) discussed the increasing significance of technology in event support, saying that digital tools are now the foundation of planning and execution, helping organizations streamline their processes

To further strengthen leadership development, Christian D. Gipa (BSEDMT 1-2) from Math:RIIX shared that leadership programs serve as stepping stones toward becoming effective leaders. He encouraged officers to listen to co-leaders and ensure that events they create are purpose-driven.

The day concluded with the Oath Taking Ceremony led by Ms. Permarie Lacava, President of the COED Student Council, followed by the awarding of certificates conducted by Ms. Princess Michaella S. Santos, MAEd, Student Activities Coordinator.

The two-day COED Leadership Workshop successfully united student leaders in a journey of growth, collaboration, and purposeful action. From learning the power of responsible leadership and effective documentation on Day 1 to exploring teamwork, technology, and impact-driven programs on Day 2, participants gained practical insights to guide their organizations. More than positions or titles, the workshop reminded everyone that true leadership lies in listening, collaborating, and creating meaningful change—lessons that will continue to inspire COED student leaders long after the event.
