MANILA, Philippines – The Future Business Teachers’ Organization (FBTO), in partnership with the PUP Society of Information Technology Educators (SITE) and the PUP Guild of Livelihood and Technology Education Students (GLITES), hosted a retro-themed general assembly and turn over ceremony entitled “Powerhouse Momentum: Groove into the Retro Frontier” on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Claro M. Recto Hall. The event celebrated outstanding student leaders and welcomed a new set of officers, all while embracing a lively 1979 retro theme.
The general assembly highlighted the welcoming of new set of officers where the ‘key’ symbolizing the new doors to unlock was passed from outgoing officers to incoming leaders of DBTE. The new FBTO officers include John Eric A. Rosare as President, Cedrick Villahermosa as Vice President-Internal, and Danice C. Bacer as Vice President-External. For SITE, Cyruz Miguel Aleon is the new President, and Mark Angelo Domingo is Vice President. Meanwhile, the GLITES President is Arielle Nichole Sombilon, with Jasmine Barrera as Vice President. The event also featured the TLExhibit 2025 Awards, honouring the creativity and hard work of students and celebrating their drive to raise the bar for Livelihood Education and providing fresh insights into Business Technology and Livelihood Education (DBTE), helping students shape their future as educators.
Inspiring messages were shared throughout the day. Dharlyn Grace Beldia, the outgoing FBTO President, encouraged leaders by saying, “Not everyone gets to carry what you carry. And yes, it’s heavy—but it’s also holy. It’s shaping you, refining you, and preparing you for rooms you haven’t even entered yet.” She added, “So lead with courage. Live with integrity. And never forget—your presence is powerful, your story is valid, and your journey matters”.
Futhermore, advisers provided their insights and inspiring messages to the student leaders. Associate Professor Jimmy Fernando, FBTO Adviser, noted that such events provide opportunities for students’ personal growth, skills enhancement, and career development. Meanwhile, SITE Adviser, Instructor Gino Raz reiterated the blessing of being in the College of Education. Lastly, Associate Professor Elizabeth Fernando, GLITES Adviser, emphasized that the journey of a student leader, though challenging, is “one of the most rewarding parts” of academic life.
The general assembly was a successful educational throwback that brought together bright future educators to celebrate leadership, creativity, and excellence. It served as a tribute to the outgoing officers, acknowledging their tireless service and unwavering commitment, while welcoming new leaders ready to continue serving their department, college, and university.
